Connect Virgil to Grok

Same record, third seat. Grok connects the same way Claude and ChatGPT do: a custom connector plus Virgil's branded sign-in. The import can also fold in what Grok already knows about you.

The constants are Virgil's address, https://mcp.virgilknows.com/mcp, your email and code at sign-in, and the same record across Claude, ChatGPT, and Grok today. A fact saved through Grok has been read back across ChatGPT and Claude on one record. This is a proven path, not a roadmap item.

Connect Grok

As of this writing, xAI documents this custom connector flow:

1. Go to grok.com/connectors.
2. Click "New Connector", then select "Custom".
3. Enter Virgil's address: https://mcp.virgilknows.com/mcp and complete the sign-in - your email and your code.
4. Grok discovers what Virgil can do and makes him available in your conversations.
5. Paste the instruction blurb where Grok keeps your custom instructions, if your plan carries that surface. The blurb lives at virgilknows.com/setup with one-click copy.

If Grok moves the buttons

Where Grok puts the buttons is Grok's to change. If the path above has moved, the address and the sign-in still work wherever custom connectors live.

Add the blurb

The instruction blurb is how Virgil shows up ready instead of a stranger you re-introduce. It tells Grok to check Virgil first, save as you go, and flag what came from the record. One-click copy lives at virgilknows.com/setup.

Fill the record from Grok

The import at virgilknows.com/import is a paste, not a file upload. Virgil hands you a short prompt, you run it in Grok, paste the answer back, and verify with your email plus a 6-digit code. About ten minutes.

The import is re-runnable anytime. He will not duplicate what he already holds. Virgil reads only what you paste. He cannot see your other assistants or reach into them.

Then, in a fresh conversation, ask, "What do you know about me?" Recall favors named subjects, so asking about a named person, company, or project is the most reliable way in.

Small FAQ

Where is my sign-up code? It lives only in the welcome email, subject "Virgil is ready", from verify@mail.indistinct.ai. It is single-use, lasts 7 days, and is needed only the first time you connect Virgil, in whichever app you start with.

What happens later? Connecting a second app later, or reconnecting, uses your email plus a fresh 6-digit code emailed at that moment. Each fresh code lasts 10 minutes and works once.

Does the connection expire? The connection renews about once a month for safety. A re-sign-in with email plus a fresh 6-digit code is normal, and the original sign-up code is never needed again.
